"Beach Bloom"
8 x 10 inches oil on board
Prickly but pretty
yellow blooms leading the way to the beach. A haven for the birds and
bugs. I like the natural beach best with the dunes left untouched.

Ocean Sky
The wind and the waves and the clouds drifting by, taking all the cares of the day with them. Layers of oil paint with texture scraped away and layered again. I can almost feel the sand in my toes.

Yucca Fields
Sometimes when painting plein air the wind and bugs are so overwhelming
that by the end of a painting session I am incredibly underwhelmed by my
painting. I woke up this morning with the answer to my struggles. This
is my studio piece created from my day painting yucca at White Rock.

Bluebonnet Time
Ahh, bluebonnet time in Texas, the time of the year that all True Texan bleed blue. The annual trip to find the best field of bluebonnets. I didn't have to travel far for this one. This lot where an old house once stood is now covered with bluebonnets for the neighborhood's enjoyment. My daily walk takes me by this lovely scene.

Austin Airstream
"Austin Airstream"
Just sitting there all alone, an abandoned dream, or maybe hoping for future explorations. A symbol of the American dream. Airstreams always remind me of Tom Robbins and Skinny Legs and All.

Somewhere in New Mexico
pastel on paper 6 x 6 inches
Somewhere in New Mexico, the long drive, the amazing scenery, heading north from Santa Fe. It's easy to get lost in the subtle colors here. The sky goes on forever with the shadow of the mountains as a baseline.

Happy Hens
pastel on paper 6 x 6 inches
set up in online auction through dailypaintworks
I had the honor of spending a beautiful but chilly morning at the Paca D'Lites Ranch with chickens, alpacas, phoebe the pyrenees, ducks, rabbits and more. The alpacas were adorable with such personality and I can't wait to paint them all. One reminded me a little of Prince but I can't remember her name. Just chickens for today. These are happy lucky chickens that roam free and only lay eggs if they feel like it, pronouncing their victory for all who will listen.

Blaze of Glory
Found
this tree hanging on in a blaze of glory on its tiny island at Seven
Islands State Birding park in East Tn. I had hoped to make it back there
with painting supplies in tow but working from photos will have to do
for now.
